What Happens During a Coaching Session?
What will I get from coaching?
So, What is Involved in Coaching?
Coaching helps you to put a structure to your thinking. To begin with I will work with you to really clarify what outcomes you want - it might be to identify what you want to change or maybe to be clear about what you want to achieve. It might be associated with improving business performance or personal development. Once we have clarity here, we'll agree a coaching plan.
What Happens During a Coaching Session?
I will draw upon my "Toolbox" of approaches which can range from structured exercises to freeflowing, creative visualisation techniques. The choice will be determined by what you want to achieve and by your preferred style.
Coaching is:
enabling you to find your own answers
encouraging
supportive
stimulating your own creativity and thinking capabilities
Coaching isn't:
telling you what to do
giving you someone else's answers
psycho-analysis
To begin with, you and I would meet, face to face and one to one (no groups). During the first session we'll establish your agenda, agree a coaching plan and start the process of finding your answers. This session typically lasts 2 hours after which you will need to reflect upon the outcomes and carry out any agreed actions.
Subsequent sessions will be arranged as required and as defined by you. These sessions can either be face to face or conducted over the telephone - your choice.
What will I get from coaching?
Spend a few moments and:
picture yourself moving up a gear motivated by the clarity and compulsion of your own agenda
Imagine the empowering feeling of freeing yourself from the constraints which were holding you back
feel the buzz that comes from the confidence you develop from the knowledge of how to coach your own staff
see the enthusiasm within your team generated by individuals empowered to achieve as a team
And why choose me, Sue Brinsley, as your coach?
I have invested many, many hours on my own personal development over the years and I recognise the huge impact that my coaches had in helping me. During this time, I studied and learnt how to become an expert coach myself, and I developed what I believe to be the keys to a good coach:
Flexibility of approach
A respect for other people's values, wishes and desires
An enjoyment of the differences between people
A deep understanding of how people structure their thinking
The ability to discover what truly motivates different people
A strong desire to help others to grow
The ability to set boundaries - to know when to continue and when to stop
And if you need some reassurance about my professional qualifications as a coach, I am:
A member of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development
A master practitioner of NLP (Neuro-Linguistic Programming - the science of thinking patterns)
A certified trainer of the LAB (Language and Behaviour) Profile
A licensed practitioner of Myers Briggs Psychometric Testing
